UFOs could be 'space junk'

UFOs spotted by Express readers could be space junk.

Sheila Dukes from Hailsham saw two separate sightings of a strange, cone-shaped object.

And another reader spotted a fast-moving light ball of fire which appeared to stop then turn abruptly in the night sky above Heathfield.

Express online Richard Burton from Alton, Hampshire, and his family saw a total of six pieces of space junk.

He described them as balls of fire.

He said: 'I have investigated and can only presume these were from the Proton K platform (rocket) which had been supposed to re-enter the atmosphere, with a trajectory that took it on the path that we witnessed.

'An auxilliary motor form the same rocket was due to re-enter on July 8, and might have been seen over UK but I didn't see it.

'An American bit of junk came back on July 10, but would not have been able to be seen from the UK.'

Bu he added: 'Depending on times - it could of course have been Chinese lanterns which have been mistaken a lot recently for alien craft, mostly on Saturday evenings.'
