An eye-witness has said there were 15 or 16 emergency vehicles on the scene after a man was hit by a train at Burgess Hill Railway Station last night (June 9).

A man in his 50s was airlifted to King’s College Hospital, an acute care facility in London, at 7.10pm, with critical head and lower leg injuries.

Trevor Butler, a resident who was on the scene just after the incident, said there were 15 or 16 emergency vehicles on site including; Sussex Police, British Transport Police, ambulances, paramedic cars and Network Rail in several vehicles.
