UPDATE: Four injured in Ditchling collision

An 18-year-old man from Surrey, arrested on suspicion of the theft of a car involved in a four vehicle collision on the B2112 Common Lane at Ditchling yesterday afternoon (Tuesday March 18) was still in custody this morning.

A 16-year-old boy, also from Surrey, arrested on suspicion of theft of a car following the same incident, has been released on bail until 9 May while police enquiries continue.

Four people were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, for treatment to injuries, none of which were assessed as life-threatening.

As a result of the collision at 1.17pm the road was closed for several hours and police have thanked motorists for their patience and understanding while the scene was examined and cleared and the road made safe.
