VIDEO Nine year old acrobat is aiming for World Championships

A nine-year-old acrobat from Haywards Heath is following in the bendy footsteps of her big sister and heading for the world championships.

Little Kika Green has shown huge talent, winning 4 gold medals in eight months and she will be competing in the National Sports Acrobatics Championships on May 16.

Although two years too young, Kika has now been moved to the 11 to 16-year-old's training group.

She said: "I really love it, it's fun and I have lots of friends. When I'm older I want to do sports acrobatics or the circus."

Her 18-year-old sister Jessica is currently studying circus techniques in London after competing in the Sports Acrobatics World Championships. Their mum Nina said it was clear from a young age that Kika would follow in her footsteps.

She said: "She was brought up around it and enjoyed getting involved. She tried things like dance and swimming, but this was something she really wanted to continue.

"She is lucky that she is incredibly flexible but she also works very hard and practices about 12 hours per week.

She is hoping one day to get to the World Championships too."

Nina and Kika travel almost every day to her acrobatic group in Spelthorne. As Nina is registered disabled, the pair have to get the train.

Nina added: "It is hard work. We get back quite late sometimes and the train fare is very costly. But Kika has a lot of potential and really loves it so I have to try to find the money somehow.

"We have tried finding sponsorship from a local business for her but it is a difficult time. Hopefully something will come up."
