A HOST of local dignitaries gathered at one of West Sussex's most beautiful gardens at the launch of its annual sculpture trail.
The novel event at Borde Hill Garden near Haywards Heath is the result of a liaison between the gardens' owners and the Surrey Sculptue Society.
More than 80 unique pieces have been brought together for this year's 10th annual Sculpture Trail at Borde Hill's 17 acres of formal garden which are also currently ablaze with rhododendrons, azaleas and rare trees from around the world.
The trail will be in situ for visitors to feast upon daily from 10am to 6pm until May 30, .
Those visiting the garden for the private viewing on April 30 included the High Sheriff of West Sussex Simon Knight and Emma Roberts from sponsors Creaseys Chartered Accountants of Tunbridge Wells who are auditors to Borde Hill,.
Owner of the garden Andrew John Stephenson Clarke also welcomed Margaret Samuel form the Surrey Sculpture Society, chairman of Mid Sussex District Council Margaret Hersey and Sheila Chasser, mayor of the Indepenedent State of Cuckfield.
The sculpture works feature a myriad of styles, materials and techniques, providing a blend of art and nature within the stunning Grade 11* listed heritage garden.
Installed with help from head gardener Andy Stevens, the individual pieces have been matched to each of Borde Hill's series of garden "rooms", demonstrating different styles of design and presentation.
For the duration of the exhibition the Green Tree Gallery in the Borde Hill car park will again present an exhibition of smaller indoor pieces by Surrey Sculpture Society members.
All the sculptures, whether from limited editions or unique, indoors and out, will be for sale at prices from 50 to 5,000.
