A woman was taken to hospital after a collision between a car and a van on Monday morning (June 9).

Fire fighters and paramedics were called to scene at London Road, in Balcombe, just before 11am.

Firefighters worked to free a woman aged approximately in her 40s from her car before paramedics checked her at the scene, said South East Coast Ambulance.

The woman was then taken to East Surrey Hospital suffering from back pain.

The road was shut in both directions between the High Street junction and the Whitely Hill junction. It was reopened by midday.
