Worthing man runner up in Come Dine With Me finale

In a tense showdown tonight, hotel manager Brendan Shannon-Thomas from Worthing took on the final few in Come Dine With Me's '˜Champion of Champions' and came runner-up.

With his food critiqued by none other than show narrator Dave Lamb and Michelin star chef Glynn Parnell, Brendan was narrowed done from 12 hopefuls over the past week to two, but just missed out on first place.

Brendan first appeared on the show on March 17 last year, and after a 12-hour shoot in his Eriswell Road home, he walked away with the £1,000 cash prize.

Shiver Productions contacted 200 past winners to find the best dozen to compete.

On Monday, February 8, Brendan came out victorious in the semi-final.

He told the Herald he found Monday’s challenge one of the hardest things he has ever taken on.

“It was awful. I found it really difficult,” he said.

“They asked for all of our recipes so everyone planned their menus, but ten minutes before we were supposed to cook they changed all the dishes around, so it became a real challenge.”

The special series has been filmed in a country house in Sheffield with a butler on hand.
