The mayor of Crawley is to reach new heights for his chosen charity when he skydives in April.

Councillor Raj Sharma will be skydiving on Thursday, April 20, to raise money for the Crawley Community Youth Service (CCYS), a charity dedicated to improving opportunities for young people in Crawley.

The councillor will be jumping out of the plane along with Laura Carter; the lead youth worker at CCYS, Herbie Johnson and Joe Savage; both members of the CCYS, Dave Whatmore; general manager at The Hawth and the mayor of Haywards Heath, Sujan Wickremaratchi.

Speaking about his upcoming skydive and CCYS, councillor Sharma said: “I think my skydive is going to be a great experience and I am glad that I am able to support the CCYS.

“Youth work is something that I am passionate about, it is a vital part of helping today’s young people fulfil their aspirations and become considerate and well-rounded members of the community.”

CCYS is a key charity in that encourages and motivates young people to get involved in the community, learn from their experiences and to help others.

They work with community groups and businesses to broaden opportunities for young people and fulfil their aspirations.

The brave councillor is looking to raise £1,000 for the CCYS.
