Men offered free health checks

Men are offered a free health check this month as part of the Movember campaign.

Mid Sussex District Council’s Wellbeing Team is offering men aged 18 and over a free Wellbeing MOT. The Mid Sussex Wellbeing team has joined up with Freedom Leisure and East Grinstead Library to offer these sessions: Triangle Leisure Centre, Burgess Hill, November 21, from 2pm – 6pm (MOTs only); East Grinstead Library and Help Point, November 20, 10am – 3pm (NHS Health Checks and MOTs); and Dolphin Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath, Monday, November 26, 2pm – 6pm (MOTs only).

Residents can contact the team directly or visit the Mid Sussex Wellbeing website, which provides a ‘one stop shop’ for information and advice on physical and emotional health matters.

If you would like more information, or to book an appointment for a free MOT health check, call the Mid Sussex Wellbeing team on 01444 477191 or email

Cllr Christopher Snowling, cabinet member for health and community on the district council, said: “Our health checks take just 30 minutes and if we can spot signs of a serious problem early then it could save your life.

“We know that some men can be reluctant to trouble the doctor with their health problems but it is important to get things checked out. Our health check and Wellbeing MOT sessions will take place away from clinics in a relaxed and informal setting. We hope that this will help men to feel more comfortable and able to discuss any health and wellbeing concerns they may have.”
