Nearly 50 new retirement homes are to be built in East Grinstead.
Churchill Retirement Living, has been granted planning permission for 49 apartments and landscaped grounds to replace the office block in Park Road/Garland Road.
This will be the second development for Churchill Retirement Living in Mid Sussex, following their Haywards Heath site, which is currently under construction.
Andrew Burgess, planning director of Churchill Retirement Living said: “We’re pleased that Mid Sussex Planning Committee recognised our plans are carefully designed to relate sensitively to the surrounding area. They acknowledged there will be no issues with parking or amenity and that a substantial sum is being contributed towards off site affordable housing, the Ashdown Forest SPA, community buildings/infrastructure and libraries.
“This is an accessible and sustainable location and future residents will be able to walk to shops and services in East Grinstead. The construction will get underway as soon as we have secured vacant possession.”
