Students and teachers at Oakmeeds Community College have donated £1,000 to help victims of the Nepal earthquake.

The Middy reported last week that Row and Tom Smith, from Lindfield, were raising money for Community Action Nepal, after witnesses, first hand, the devastation in Nepal.

Row, an ex pupil of the school in Burgess Hill, said she was ‘so grateful’ the school had raised the money with a non-uniform day.

“I was so grateful for there donation,” she said. “It’s so good to know that in a situation like this, the community pulls together to help.

“It means the world knowing people care.”

The couple were hiking on a mountain in Nepal when the quake struck and they had to be helicopter rescued after being caught in an avalanche.
