A restored ancient windmill was successfully turned into a steam-driven Mill for a well-attended family event at the weekend.

Oldland Mill, Sussex’s oldest working windmill, between Keymer and Ditchling, was attached to Jess the Steam Engine on Sunday July 5.

Visitors watched as the sweeps were driven by steam to grind flour for the first time in 100 years.

The Jack and the Beanstalk puppet show, animal school and Millers Blues Band entertained in the marquee and visitors were treated to a bbq, tea, cake and coconut shy.
