A formal application for outline planning permission to build 200 homes on land in Lindfield has been submitted to Mid Sussex District Council.

Wates Development wants to build the houses, along with a country park and primary school on land to the south of Scamps Hill, Scaynes Hill Road.

But protests over the plans have already been sounded. Earlier this month more than 300 people packed into a public meeting and outlined their fears that the development could ‘destroy’ the village.

There are fears that the area’s ‘green lungs’ would be lost.
