A man charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal collision in Handcross has been bailed to appear at crown court.
Kyle Witney, 20, of Finches Lane, Lindfield, appeared at Hove Trial Centre yesterday (August 19) charged with death by dangerous driving, causing the death of Marc Martin, from Handcross, dangerous driving, and two counts of driving without due care and attention while unfit through drugs.
He was listed for a plea and case management hearing at one of the crown court centres - Lewes, Brighton or Hove - on October 2.
He was granted bail on the condition not to contact the immediate families of the two deceased men or talk about the case through social media or the press.
The two passengers died when the car they were travelling in left the road and hit a tree at Handcross on December 17 last year.
Matthew Preece, 21, from Lindfield, and Marc Martin, 22, from Haywards Heath both died in hospital from their injuries. They had been sitting in the back of the BMW when it struck the tree and flipped on its roof on High Beeches Lane just after 10pm.
