Gatwick Express services may no longer call at Haywards Heath under a major shake-up of Sussex’s rail timetable planned for 2018.

Currently the first five Gatwick Express services from Brighton to London Victoria call at Haywards Heath, with four stopping at Burgess Hill, three at Hassocks, and one at Wivelsfield.

Last week Govia Thameslink Railway, which also runs Southern and Thameslink services, launched a consultation into proposed timetable changes planned for 2018.

Since then the Middy has been contacted by readers questioning the move to axe Gatwick Express services from Haywards Heath as part of a consultation on timetable changes from 2018.

But the consultation document explains that stops such as Haywards Heath and Preston Park will be transferred to Southern services ‘to maintain the overall quantum of trains at these stations’.

The consultation runs until December 8.
