Popular tombola stall raises funds for breast care centre

A popular tombola stall in Burgess Hill has raised £450 for the Park Centre for Breast Care in Brighton.

Diane Cubitt and Val Whitehead, members of the Burgess Hill District Lions offer the stall on a regular basis.

After Christmas, the pair requested if they could make the kind donation to the breast care centre in Preston Road from the money raised over the festive period.

The pair are pictured presenting the cheque with consultant Charles Zammit who said he ‘loves’ having dinner with the lions club.

Nearly 50,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, making breast cancer the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK.

The breast care unit, which opened in 2008, provides a diagnostic and therapeutic service to both symptomatic and patients who are screened under the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
