Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra will visit charity Sightsavers’, in Haywards Heath, today.

The first cousin to Queen Elizabeth II, who is President of the international development charity, will visit the branch in Perrymount Road.

She will be met by Dr Caroline Harper, Sightsavers CEO, and Martin Dinham, vice chairman, and introduced to colleagues at the Perrymount Road office.

She will have the opportunity to talk with staff about the charity’s work protecting and restoring sight in developing countries and supporting people to lead more independent lives.

This year the charity is marking its 65th anniversary.

Local dignitaries will also be on hand to greet Her Royal Highness, including Harry Goring, vice lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex, Denise Patterson, the High Sheriff of West Sussex and chairman of Mid Sussex District Council councillor Peter Reed.
