Plans for 119 new homes on fields in Haywards Heath, will be open for public scrutiny today (July 16).

The site on land off Greenhill Way will be the second phase of the Taylor Wimpey development in this area, with the first phase of homes on neighbouring land having already been granted planning permission by Lewes District Council.

Further information about the proposals will be unveiled during a public exhibition at the Best Western Birch Hotel, Lewes Road, Haywards Heath, between 3pm and 8pm.

The consultation event will give local residents, businesses, community groups and other interested parties the chance to find out more about the scheme and discuss the plans with the Taylor Wimpey project team.

Comments received from those who attend the event will help to shape the development proposals before an outline planning application is finalised for submission in due course.

Martin Cooper, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey South East, said: “As a considerate, responsible developer we want to give people the chance to have their say on development plans for their area – and this is why we are inviting the local community to find out more about our proposals for the site off Greenhill Way.

“We are confident that this scheme will provide an attractive and sustainable development of high-quality homes to meet a range of requirements – including affordable properties for local people in housing need – in accordance with the Local Authority’s aspirations for the site.

“Anyone who comes along to the public exhibition on Thursday 16th July will be able to speak to members of our project team to find out more about our proposals and provide their feedback to help us develop and refine this second phase of our emerging scheme.”

Under the proposals, Taylor Wimpey will provide 40% affordable housing for local people.

The site has been allocated for development as part of the local authority’s emerging Joint Core Strategy.

Those who are unable to attend the event will be able to access the information displayed at the event online at www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/greenhillway-phase2 from Thursday July 16 onwards.
