Rhino rampage - Haywards Heath art trail opens

CIC ART event

CIC ART event

An inaurgural art trail through the streets of Haywards Heath has opened with an additional event this Saturday (March 23).

More than 20 shops, many of them independent retailers, are taking part with art works being displayed in their shop windows for the next fortnight.

The idea for the trail has come from the Haywards Heath Community CIC, a not-for-profit company set up to promote the town as a place to live, work and do business.

Directors of the CIC (community interest company) have arranged a piece of art work to be installed in each shop with information about the artist displayed alongside it.

A leaflet explaining where all the others are situation is available in each participating outlet.

Among the art works are a rhino and a turtle made of recycled metal, paintings, wood sculptures and drawings.

The trail will be in situ until March 31 along The Broadway, South Road, The Orchards and Sussex Road taking part as well as works in Victoria Park.

A Meet the Artists event will be held at the Old Post Office premises at The Orchards on Saturday (March 23) where some of the artists from the Art Trail will be displaying more of their work.

The event is open to the public from 11am to 4pm.
