Fruit & Veg Share: The Fruit & Veg Share scheme, which allows those with excess produce to leave it for others to collect, is back again for a third year. Leave or take produce with no money changing hands!
Quiz Nights: There is now a weekly quiz at the Inn on the Green. It starts at 7.00pm with a £2.00 entrance fee and a maximum of 6 players per team. Why not go along and test out your brain power.
St Augustine’s Church News: Church Gardens. Brian Sitford has taken care of mowing the church lawns, and maintaining the hedges, over many years, with great dedication and love. He now needs to stop doing this because of his health. Alan and Jenny Cattermole have also given an enormous amount of time and love through the years to maintaining the flower beds in the front and back of the church, and feel that it is time for them to relinquish at least part of this very physical work. So the church is currently considering how they might manage these different aspects of the garden in the future. If you would be willing to be part of this, or have ideas about people that could be approached, please speak to Jenny Cattermole.
Youth News: Apologies ...This is a message related to Christmas! Yes, Emily knows it’s only (June), but Emily has a plan which needs plenty of prep time and which needs your help!! The Church would like to have a knitted nativity set which will be used in Advent (just over 5 months away). Emily is not a knitter but is hoping some of the community are. (Actually, she says she can knit a scarf but that’s all she can knit!). Could you help knit 24 sheep, several shepherds, Mary and Joseph and 3 kings? Would you be willing to donate either some money to buy wool or donate some wool? Please speak to Emily 07825235907 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org
Do you have any good, second hand toys you could donate to the children’s toy box? If so please let Emily know
Thank You: Thank you to everyone who attended the fundraising quiz held at Scaynes Hill Club on Saturday 8 August. The club was raising money on behalf of Karen Hampton who will be running a half marathon in October to raise money for Blind Veterans UK. Thanks to the generosity of the good folk at the club Karen has now reached her initial target of £300. Well done and good luck Karen.
WI: On Wednesday September 9th the Scaynes Hill WI will be holding a service in St Augustine’s church to celebrate 100 years of the WI. It will be a fun service and the ladies would like people to go along and see just what they do. The service is at 2.00pm and people are invited to join them afterwards for refreshments in the annex.
