A popular country pub is on the market – after the company which owned it went into administration.
The Chequers, in Slaugham, was run by Mountain Range Restaurants, which also has other restaurants around Sussex including The Swan in Forest Row.
Estate Agents Fleurets is now offering the leasehold on the pub, which lasts until 2026, for £35,000, along with the rent on the property at £70,000 a year.
A spokeswoman for Fleurets said: “ The seller is a company in administration.
“The Chequers is situated in the heart of the affluent and desirable West Sussex village of Slaugham which is just to the west of the main A23 and equidistant to Horsham, Crawley, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill.”
The first floor has six ensuite letting rooms and the private accommodation includes two flats, both with double bedrooms and bathrooms.
The pub’s website said The Chequers was ‘recently taken over’ by Mountain Range Restaurants and had planned to introduce an Alpine-inspired menu.
