Sussex holiday-makers hoping to fly out of Stansted Airport later this month could face disruption.

Workers who operate the security scanners for luggage at Stansted are to stage two strikes in a row over pay.

Members of the GMB union will take industrial action on Sunday August 23 and on Bank Holiday Monday.

The strike action on the Sunday will take place from 3.45am through until 1pm, and on the Monday from 3.45am to 11.59pm.

The workers, who are employed by private contractor Mitie, voted by 87%, in a turnout of 80%, to strike in support of their claim for a 3% pay rise.

Around 30 workers are involved in the dispute.

They have rejected a 1.5% offer from the company.
