Care workers have been recognised for their hard work at an awards ceremony.

The West Sussex Care Accolades – recognise the dedication of those working in adult social care including dementia care and caring for people in their own homes.

Nada Wakeford, who works at The Shelley care home in Worthing, won the Registered Manager Award.

Nada was praised by one of the home’s residents for ‘listening, crying and laughing along with the residents’.

The resident, who has not been named, said: “We all get good vibes from Nada and she makes us love living at the home.”

Peter Catchpole, West Sussex County Council’s cabinet member for adults social care and health, said: “It was a privilege to meet care workers at the awards. It is really important to recognise great care. I am sure I speak on behalf of the county when I say to all care workers that the role they do is hugely appreciated by all of us.”

Helen Wheeler of Melrose Care Home in Worthing scooped the Chair’s Award and was described as ‘bringing joy to the residents and staff’ of the home.
