A teenage motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital where he remains in a serious condition after a crash in East Grinstead on Saturday (April 2).

The 17-year-old boy from East Grinstead is in a ‘serious but stable condition’ at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, a spokesperson for Sussex Police said.

The collision between the motorbike and a silver Ford Focus happened on the A22 London Road at its junction with Buckhurst Way shortly before 4pm.

The boy, riding a blue Debri Senda 125cc, sustained serious injuries and was flown to hospital.

The car driver - a 44-year-old woman, also from East Grinstead - was unhurt.

The road was closed for three hours while the incident was dealt with and the circumstances investigated.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who saw what happened or noticed either vehicle shortly before the crash can email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting Operation Brookfield.
