There are more good reasons than usual to visit the Cuckfield Local market in the village tomorrow (Saturday December 7), say organisers.

For the stallholders will be selling the second edition of the market’s popular jute bag, seen here being advertised by TV presenter and environmental enthusiast Chris Packham.

The market will be held at the Talbot courtyard between 9.30am and 12.30pm with stalls selling fresh vegetables, fish, poultry, coffee, local cheeses and cakes.

Visitors will also find the new Cuckfield bags for taking home their Christmas goodies.

The successful Plastic Bag Free Cuckfield campaign has already sold 1,000 cotton and 400 jute bags over the last four years.

Now its newly launched second edition is being promoted as another ‘must have’ accessory. The chic bags are green in colour and green in the message they carry and promote.

And organisers say you can’t get much greener than TV presenter, wildlife photographer and passionate environmentalist Chris Packham.

In November after speaking to a full house at Clair Hall in Haywards Heath, Cuckfield nature village enthusiasts Sheila Harris, Trisha Comrie and Margaret Tyzack More persuaded Chris to display them and he was delighted to oblige.

Chris can been seen here with one of the jute bags in photographs by Mark Hayler.

You can get a bag and festive foods at the Cuckfield Local market and the bags whenever you like from Wealden Stores and the Craft Shop in the village.
