A man was taken to hospital after a six vehicle crash on the M23 this morning (Monday June 27).
Emergency services were called to the crash, southbound before junction 9 near Gatwick Airport, at about 8.45am.
Police said the collision involved six vehicles.
A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said two of the vehicles involved included a lorry and a car.
The spokesman said the driver of the car, a man in his 30s, sustained a back injury.
He was treated at the scene before being taken as a priority to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
Tailbacks were reported as far as the M25.
Police said the accident had now been moved to the hard shoulder with all lanes open but delays are still being experienced.
