A charity drive in Scaynes Hill to raise funds for Cancer Research collected more than £1,500 last Thursday (February 13).

Jay Patel from the BP Service Station challenged his customers to ‘help beat cancer’ and in exchange for donations to his chosen charity more than 230 vehicles went through the machine car-wash at the Crawley Road garage.

The annual event, which has run on the eve before Valentine’s Day (February 13) since 2009, was again supported by the Mid Sussex Times with hundreds of customers also receiving a complementary copy of last Thursday’s paper, so long as they contributed to the good cause.

Mr Patel thanked everyone for their generosity and is already planning for next year.
