Ditchling Horticultural Society: The 2016 Autumn Show will be held on Sunday 11 September in the Ditchling Village Hall at 2pm. Once again this year there have been two very successful shows despite difficult weather conditions. The Autumn Show is the main Fruit and Veg Show with produce and flowers not required by exhibitors auctioned at the end of the Show. There are also classes for Floral Art which this year includes a new class for an exhibitor using wild flowers and/or seed heads. Once again the children will be exhibiting Sunflowers either as plants or photos of the plants they have grown, there will also be a class for a Vegetable Monster. There will be a photographic competition of Fungi which should prove interesting. Muriel's Draw will be held as usual, the tickets for which are £1 each. When you have had a look around why not have a cup of tea and a piece of cake for £2. There will be a Suggestions Box on the table, we hope you will put in your ideas and comments which will be considered by the Committee. Entry is 50p for non-members, children will not be charged. The DHS look forward to seeing you. For further information or any queries please contact Mary Holman, Secretary on 01273 845167.

St Peter and St James Hospice: A volunteer is needed to help coordinate the Hospice Choir. The Choir is a new idea for the Hospice, and in the early stages of being formed, and so the Hospice is looking for a volunteer who is happy to take on this new role to organise the choir. Perhaps just one person can do this and be the choir master as well. For an informal chat with Jane Cook, Volunteer Coordinator, please ring her on 01444 470812.

Summer Fayre and Vehicle Display: Kindly hosted by Rob and Cathy Mills, over £3,000 was raised for the East Sussex Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. There were over ninety exhibitors throughout the day including three cars over one hundred years old and some current high performance cars including an all-electric Tesla. There was great music from the Howlin Blues band, delicious cream teas and the opportunity to have a massage or reflexology. Rob and Cathy want to say a big thank you to everyone who came along and for all the help in making the day such a success.
