Help at Hand's AGM: on 1st April was not as well attended as it might have been' this could have been due to the school holidays but those who did go along were made very welcome. It was mentioned that last year there were 318 journeys catered for which averages out to about 26 per month which proves that this is a local charity that does deserve our support. So if you have some time on your hands, why not get in touch with Ian on 400763 '“ you don't have to drive, you can help by taking the calls from those in need and matching them to a driver who can take them to their appointment, once or twice a month for a morning. Thanks were given to Les and Christina in the Hardware Shop for allowing their number to be the first point of contact for those in need and to all the volunteers '“ drivers and duty officers for manning the phones '“ for making everything run so well '“ thank you! If you aren't able to help in this way, why not support them with their fund raising; they will be having a stall at the Fun Day on Saturday, 2 July when you can have a go at winning a bottle of champagne or whisky. Alternatively, they will be holding their ever popular Cream Tea in the Parish Hall on Saturday 16 July, more details about this nearer the time.

Mobile Library: If you are a fan of libraries but struggle to get to one, a Mobile Library does visit the village on a fortnightly basis. It is parked in the Red Lion car park on a Thursday morning between 10.05 and 10.50 am, starting this morning, 14 April and every other week until the end of the year. This is a service provided by West Sussex County Council and should you want further information, call 01403 224353; details of all the dates when it will be in the village can be found on the notice board outside the Spar Shop.

On Monday, 18 April: the Neighbourhood Planning Committee will be meeting in the Pavilion from 7.30pm. I’m sure you don’t need me to remind you where you can find a copy of the agenda and to say that you will have an opportunity to raise any questions or queries relating to any item on the agenda early in the meeting. It really is now that people should be going along to these meetings to learn what is happening and voice any concerns so that they can be addressed now rather than at the point when the Committee believes they have covered all posts and it is ready to go to the vote. We really cannot afford to put them in a position as last time when it was thrown out by the Examiner, we need this Plan in place to avoid over and unwanted development not only in the village, but the parish as a whole!

On Tuesday evening: you can enjoy a much more relaxing but just as informative time if you go along to the WI@Handcross meeting in the Parish Hall from 7.30 pm. Their speaker this month will be a paramedic who I’m sure will prove to be very interesting with stories ranging from the heart breaking, to the unbelievable and I’m sure, one or two amusing and uplifting stories in between! Don’t worry if you are not a member, I’m sure you will still be made to feel very welcome and who knows, you may decide to become a member after all!

Rosemary Club: If this wasn’t enough excitement for you, there is always the Rosemary Club’s meeting which is on Wednesday, 20 April from 2.30 pm also in the Parish Hall. This month members and visitors will be entertained by Lorna Moon who will be singing songs from the 50s and 60s. Next month there will be no meeting as members will be going on their first outing for the year to Tilford Rural Life Museum in Surrey. The day is free to members but if there are any seats left on the coach friends and family are more than welcome to go along as well, the cost will be £12.50 per head.
