HURSTPIERPOINT HISTORICAL & GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY: meeting on Friday 29 April welcomes Air Vice-Marshall Sir Peter Millar to talk about Cyprus and the Sovereign Base Areas. At the Guide HQ off the Trinity Road car park at 8pm, and if you are not a member but wish to hear this interesting speaker, all are welcome, non members £3.

KNIT AND NATTER on 29 April, is a regular meeting on the last Friday of the month at the library, from 2pm to 4pm, for all crafters, not just knitters, to go along and share tips and knowledge and enjoy meeting new people.

MESSY CHURCH FOR ALL THE FAMILY at Hurstpierpoint Methodist Church, Cuckfield Road on Saturday 30 April from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm, every one is welcome. This is an informal time of ‘doing church differently’ with fun. singing songs, hearing Bible stories, doing messy activities and then enjoying food together. Children must be accompanied by a parent/carer or trusted adult.

CAFE CHURCH: at Hurstpierpoint Methodist Church, Cuckfield Road on Sunday 1 May from 10.30 am to 11.30 am. Enjoy Coffee and Croissants followed by lively worship with modern songs and a Bible message relevant for today. Suitable for all ages.

G&T @ 3: A traditional half-hour service at Hurstpierpoint Methodist Church also on Sunday 1 May from 3.00 pm to 3.30 pm, tea provided after the service with time to chat.

HURST AFTERNOON CLUB: at their meeting on Tuesday 3 May are going to be learning about Handkerchiefs through the Ages. This will be a talk by Brenda Matthews bringing along some interesting examples. At 2.15pm in the Village Centre and every one is welcome.

SNAKE IN THE GRASS: by Alan Ayckbourn is the present production from the Hurst Players. It runs from 3 May to 7 May at the Players Theatre. About a middle-aged older sister who returns to the family home where her younger sister still lives, shortly after the death of their abusive father, it provides a scarily, eerily enjoyable evening. CHARITY LUNCH: from 12 to 2 pm at the Scout HQ in Brown Twins Road on Friday 6 May. A delicious home cooked selection of main courses, puddings plus coffee or tea is on offer for the bargain price of £7 for adults and £2 for children. HIGH STREET: The meeting arranged by Maddy Dunckley regarding the traffic problems in the High Street had a good attendance of over 60 residents and 4 councillors. A trial set of traffic lights to be set up was asked for, to see if it would help the traffic flow and stop the bad driving as well. More parking is being looked at too.
