THE MUSEUM GROUP has a new display in the Village Centre foyer, picking up on the St Lawrence Fair theme of 60, and providing a snapshot of events through the years from the medieval to the present. Pop in to have a look when the foyer is open, and see what was happening in1760 or 1860.

HURST HASSOCKS & DITCHLING U3A Friday 19 August at the Adastra Hall, Hassocks, 2pm. A Sussex Farm in the 50s is a talk by Ian Everest. Open to non members. Enquiries to J. Brewer 01273 841072.

THE WOODLAND, FLORA & FAUNA GROUP have an illustrated talk on Thursday 25 August at the Village Centre, 7.30pm. Iain Parkinson, the Conservation and Woodlands Manager at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew is coming to impart his knowledge about ‘Celestial Meadows”. They are a loved and longstanding feature of our countryside, with wild flowers and grasses, but their survival rate is dire, with all but a few remaining. Iain is responsible for restoring and caring for meadows in and around Wakehurst Place, including the Prince Charles promoted Coronation Meadow. The entry is free and all with a concern for the environment and promoting wild life are welcome.
