JUMBLE SALE: in aid of Plumpton Churches takes place at the village hall this Saturday (April 16). Please take jumble donations to the hall from 9am and do go along at 2pm; with clothes at 20p each there are sure to be lots of bargains. Along with jumble there will be a tombola, refreshments, good as new items, bric-a-brac, books, toys, clothes and linen.

FLOWER CLUB AGM: is on Wednesday, April 20, at 7pm in the village hall and the annual subscription for each member, £10, is payable at this meeting. The AGM will be followed by a demonstration by Bob Tunks titled “Joy of Flowers”. Visitors and prospective members (£2.50 admission) are always welcome.

WOODY COUNTRYSIDE WALK: (5½ miles) taking in Kingscote station on the Bluebell Railway with an optional lunch in West Hoathly is on Saturday April 23 starting at 10am. ST PETER AND ST JAMES HOSPICE: Support Group thank all who attended and assisted with their recent quiz as you helped raise a magnificent £2,200 for the Hospice. Their next event is a Bluebell Walk on Friday April 22. Meet at the equestrian centre at Plumpton College at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. This will be a very interesting walk through Plumpton Woods led by Reg Lanaway; please wear sensible footwear as paths could be muddy. The cost is £2 for adults and £1 for children or a donation. ARDINGLY WALK: on Wednesday May 4 meet members of the Footpath Society at Ardingly Reservoir car park (Map Ref: 335 288) at 10.30am. The walk will include Lynwood Common, Bluebell Railway, Oddynes, Brook House, Ardingly College and the Church. There will be a lunch stop at The Royal Oak. ANOTHER WALK: with the Footpath Society takes place on Saturday May 7 starting at 2pm. Meet at the car park Aythons Wood (Map Ref 533 365) for a 5½ mile walk including Harrisons Rocks, Motts Farm, Bullfinches Farm and Mottshill.
