The Jazz Band at Hurstpierpoint College was invited to perform for the University of the Third Age Jazz Appreciation Society in Burgess Hill.

The Jazz band has a large repertoire and relished the opportunity to play to an appreciative and large audience for the fourth year running.

Opening with their signature number, ‘Bandstand Boogie’, the band immediately drew their audience into a foot-tapping set that included items both traditional and modern.

Douglas Brion provided some highly accomplished solos and it was good for the audience to hear his improvisation skill. It is testament to the strength of the band’s performance that they were immediately invited back to play another concert at the beginning of 2016.

Andrew Sutton, who directs the band said, “Everyone, performers and audience alike, enjoyed themselves immensely. The standard of playing was very high and reflects so well on our talented jazz musicians”.
