Burgess Hill School for Girls’ U13 & U11 Hockey teams both played exceptionally well to be crowned Sussex Champions at the In2Hockey Tournaments held at Eastbourne College.

The U13 Hockey Team (pictured) took part in the Sussex Round of the In2 Hockey Tournament held at Eastbourne College on 23 February 2015.

Seven teams were involved in the U13 competition in which a round robin format was used. After a tough start with the rain falling heavily and the wind chill factor being extremely cold, the Burgess Hill School for girls team fought hard to overcome some tough opposition.

They played six games, winning five, beating Bede’s 2-0, Farlington 2-0, St Andrews 2-0, Claremont School 4-0, Gildridge House 5-0, and narrowly lost 1-0 to Ardingly in what was a closely fought match. The team will now go onto represent Sussex at the South of England Round held at Woking Hockey on Tuesday 17th March 2015.

The U11 team also played excellently and did not concede a single goal during their U11 tournament on the 2 March.

Their PE teachers, Miss Petty and Mrs Tagg said: “The girls’ effort and commitment has allowed us once again to be crowned the U11 County Champions. This is the best hockey we have seen the girls play and they were well-deserved winners. We couldn’t be more proud of them!”
