On the evening of Thursday June 9, Burgess Hill District Lions working with the Shapla Indian & Bangladeshi Restaurant ran its latest charity night and it was in aid of Friends of Woodlands Mead School here in Burgess Hill.
The restaurant was filled to capacity and I am surprised if the noise that was being made was not heard in Haywards Heath. The event was supported by many different clubs and businesses but one supporter Jean Hayes of Headmasters Hairdressers in Cyprus Road was actually raising money before the event by selling tomato plants in her shop and on the evening she matched the money she had raised and gave us a large donation.
Mutahar Hussain manager of the Shapla at the end of the evening also gave a generous donation which gave us a final total of £501. Fantastic food, fantastic evening.
