HURST CINEMA: screens Julietta (15) on Thursday 9 February at 8pm. A film by Pedro Almodovar about a woman leaving home to start a new life, but gets side tracked by meeting an old friend. She changes her mind returning home to start writing her autobiography, and the film covers the story of her life and the people she has loved. Tickets from the website or Mishon Mackay.

HURSTPIERPOINT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: An illustrated talk ‘The Modern Kitchen Garden’ by Barry Newman, NDH, FNVS. A National Vegetable Society and Britain in Bloom judge. Perfect timing to kick start your enthusiasm for growing veg this year. In the Club Suite, at the Village Hall, 7.45pm on Tuesday 14 February, £1 members £2 non-members.

WEST GALLERT CONCERT: for February is Mike Reinstein, a singer/ songwriter and guitarist. The date is Saturday 18 February and the concert starts at 6pm and finishes at 7.30pm. There is a break halfway for a drink and a chat. The timing is to allow anyone to go on to other events afterwards.Tickets £5 available by phoning Margaret Carey on 01273 835113 or e-mail kmcarey@atlas.co.uk. Alternatively you just turn up on the night and pay at the door, but it helps to know numbers in advance.
