Having previously won the Mid-Sussex Games competing against all the schools in Mid-Sussex, the Oakmeeds Year 7 Indoor Athletics team put in a great performance at the Sussex School Games Final on Friday 14th February.

Representing as Mid-Sussex Champions they competed brilliantly and in a close competition narrowly missed out on winnng. It was a fantastic achievement to come second overall in Sussex.

The team (see photo) included: Charlie Broad, Cameron Bates, Jack Smith, Josh Akturk, Martyn Box, Joe Smith, Anna Bellringer, Miranda Pierpoint, Ashleigh Bourne, Tia Chandler and Adeline Preston.

Mr Andrew Butcher, PE Teacher, said: “Individual congratulations go to Adeline for winning her 2 lap race, Josh for coming 2nd in his 2 lap race, Ashleigh and Miranda for coming 2nd in their 8 lap race, Joe for coming 2nd in the 6 lap race, Charlie and Martyn for coming 1st in their 8 lap race and to all who worked extremely hard to successfully represent their school.”
