Bestselling author Peter James is once again backing the annual Peter James Golf Classic which aims to raise vital funds for Action Medical Research.

The Horsham-based children’s charity is calling on golfers and crime fiction fans alike to take to the course at Haywards Heath Golf Club on Friday, 4 September 2015, to help save and change the lives of babies and children.

This will be the sixth Peter James Golf Classic and the popular annual event has raised more than £60,000 for Action Medical Research since it began.

“I’m delighted to support Action Medical Research and to be able to help them a little with the incredible work they do,” he says. “I’ve been aware of the charity for many years, including their pioneering work contributing to the development of the first polio vaccine – there isn’t anyone I know who hasn’t been touched in some way by their work

“I have a big interest in medicine, often writing about medical themes, so it’s wonderful to help make a difference on behalf of Action Medical Research, especially when medical research is so poorly funded, especially for children.”

The competition is limited to 32 four-ball teams and entry to the event is £250 per team.

The winning team will receive a prize worth up to £400, with prizes for the next five places totalling £600, and Peter, who released his latest Roy Grace novel, You Are Dead, earlier this year, will be in attendance after the event to hand out prizes and sign copies of his books, which have sold 15 million copies worldwide.

Action Medical Research is currently funding work around stillbirth, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy and brain cancer, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
