The 4th Annual Macmillan Golf Day, sponsored by ‘Caffyns Land Rover Lewes’, took place at Mid Sussex Golf Club on Friday 5th June, and the beautiful Summer weather did not disappoint.

Over 20 teams and 80 golfers took part, and the day was won by the team from Berkeley Investments, with a tremendous Stableford score of 95 points. The Charity Auction and a sizeable private donation helped boost the fund raising efforts, and a splendid total of over £12,000 was raised on the day.

The Annual competition has to date raised in excess of £48,000 for the Macmillan ‘Horizon’ centre in Brighton over the last 4 years, and the date is already identified for 2016 – indeed organisers are thrilled to have already had requested for all 20 team places a year in advance. Andrew Smith, General Manager and Head Golf Professional says ‘It is extraordinary how people pull together to raise so much awareness and funds. The event started when my dearest friend was diagnosed in 2011 with cancer of the trachea. Macmillan helped him and his family and now we want to give as much support as possible to people who are experiencing the same journey’.

David Metcalfe, Joint organiser and Macmillan’s Mid Sussex branch treasurer was thrilled with the outcome and praised all involved: “We always have a great experience at Mid Sussex Golf Club, and both the course and hospitality provided help to make this such a happy event. I am delighted that we are able to continue to play the competition at Mid Sussex Golf Club and that Caffyns will continue to support the event in 2016. Let’s hope the weather is as glorious next year.”
