A not-for-profit group for new mums in Haywards Heath is at risk from closing if it cannot attract a new volunteer to donate just three hours a week.
Bumps and Babes provides a place for expectant mothers and mothers with new and very young babies to meet, chat, make new friends and share their experiences.
However, the group which meets on Mondays at St Wilfrids Church, St Wilfrids Way, from 10.30am to 12pm, will fold if they do not find someone who could help out.
“We need someone willing to give three hours a week to set up and pack away the room, welcome people, coordinate the group of mums who regularly help with set up and pack away, and some small admin tasks,” said volunteer press officer Narnya Tarva.
“The group is really a life line for new parents as it’s drop-in based, so you don’t have to sign up to lots of weeks in one block, which many baby groups require.”
Narnya added: “Many new mums in the area may not have many friends locally, or friends that don’t work during the week, so having somewhere to come and meet others in the same situation.
“Having a new baby can be very bewildering and sometimes quite isolating, so having a place you can leave the house for a bit and come to a safe, welcoming environment would be greatly missed by those that attend and volunteer at the group.”
