Volunteers can learn about the music industry

THE ORGANISERS of a popular Brighton new music festival are looking for volunteers to help out and gain first-hand experience of the music industry.

The Great Escape festival has helped to launch the careers of successful recent acts including The Kooks, Gossip, Adele, The Ting Tings, and Kate Nash.

This year's city-wide event, which runs across a huge range of venues in Brighton from May 13–15, will feature more than 350 bands , including recent Brit award winner Ellie Goulding.

It's also a major music industry event and features a varied programme of talks and seminars.

On Wednesday (March 17) , from 4 to 7pm, a volunteer drop-in day will be held at the Queens Hotel on Brighton seafront (near the Palace Pier) to recruit 150 people to help run the event and learn more about the music business.

Volunteers are needed for a range of jobs, including convention production, delegate and artist registration, technical production support, wristband exchange, and venue staff, both production and front of house.

The organising team will be on hand all day to answer any questions from prospective volunteers .
