The weather mix of firstly plenty of rain followed by lots of sunshine combined to bring out the best of Burgess Hill Gardens across the town.

All categories were highly fought for and made it so hard for the judges. Results of the Burgess Hill in Bloom Summer Competition are as follows:

n Best Environmentally Friendly - Sue Price, Highly Commended-Roy Godsmark.

n Best Front - Ann Tomlinson, Highly Commended-Jackie Smith, Commended-Paul Barnett.

n Best Side/Back - Elizabeth Burrows, Highly Commended-Stephen Dallenger-Bradshaw, Commended-Alan and Margaret Bradshaw.

n Best Design - Jan Webster, Highly Commended-Sheila Preston, Commended-Robert Mansbridge.

n Neighbours in Bloom - Keith Maslin, Warelands Play Area.

n Floral Container - Pam Maslin, Highly Commended-Margaret Bennett.

n Commercial Display - Spiral Restaurant, Station Road.

n Best Pub - The Weald, Royal George Road, Highly Commended-The Windmill, Leylands Road.

n Best Nominated Garden - Marilynne Benstead, Highly Commended-Donna Evans.

n Community/Voluntary Project - Leylands Road Gardening Group, Highly Commended-Cyprus Road Community Association (Cyprus Hall).

n Best School Project (Pre School) - Kiddi Caru, York Road.
