LETTER: Barrage of sound provokes terror

I could not help but notice the recent full page advert in the West Sussex County Times for Thunderous Fireworks and after the neighbourhood barrage of sound around midnight on the 31 st December 2015 I got to wondering why we need to produce so much noise, which provokes pure terror in many animals.

Birds are most affected, so I am told.

My attention was also drawn to an article online about an Italian village where the inhabitants have banned all noisy fireworks, allowing only quiet displays, in order to protect the local animal life .

I wonder if the people of Horsham could also be so enlightened and consider doing the same!
