As a previous resident of Plumpton, retired from Network Rail and a member of the Bluebell Railway, we can assume that the signal box and crossing gates will be replaced by an automatic barrier.

It would, therefore, be a nice gesture for Network Rail to dismantle and then install the signal box and gates at the southern end of Bluebell Railway, at Sheffield Park Railway Sheds, as a permanent museum piece.

It is the last of the old signal boxes and gates, and therefore should be a permanent part of our local railway history.
