I read recently in the local papers that some wonderful landowners near Hickstead had refused offers of millions of pounds from developers who planned to desecrate this beautiful landscape by building a new town there.
They should be awarded community medals on a par with the Military Cross for active services to the countryside.
Now, I learn that developers are trying to buy land at East Chiltington for development. This land has been used by generations of children as a playing field. People enjoy village fetes and other community events there. This land is in the National Park so surely it should be protected? Is it not Common Land? So who is selling it and for how much?
