MORE than 750,000 women nationwide are expected to take part in this year's Race for Life.

The charity is hoping to raise £5million pounds to fund Cancer Research UK's work.

Since Race for Life began in 1994, 3.4million women across the UK have taken part, raising over £200million pounds.

A range of activities take place across the country for men and women to take part in including Run 10k.

Background

Cancer Research UK funds around 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses who carry out world-class research to improve our understanding of cancer and how to prevent it.

The charity is the major funder of breast cancer research in the UK. Last year it spent more than £22million on research in this area.

Thanks to donations, advances are being made in the detection and treatment of cancer and lives are being saved.
