A gunman pointed a pistol in the face of a shopkeeper and then robbed him.
The victim was alone in the One Stop shop in Middle Road, Shoreham, on Friday afternoon (August 29) when the raiders struck.

One of the men, who had a hood obscuring most of his face, produced a carrier bag and demanded money.

When he told the man he didn't understand what he meant, the robber pulled a handgun from the bag, rested it on the till so that it was pointing at him and said: "We need your money".

At the same time, the second man stepped forwards brandishing an umbrella.

The shopkeeper stepped aside and let the gun-wielding thief raid the till of £400. The robber also emptied the man's wallet and stole cigarettes from the shop.

Police said they think the men fled on foot up Park Avenue before getting into a blue car, possibly a Peugeot estate.

One of the men was described as white, aged 28 to 35, wearing a green hooded jumper and carrying a Tesco carrier bag.

Anyone with information is asked to call 0845 6070999 quoting serial 1254 of August 29 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
