MAY 1 is election time with candidates battling it out in the Adur district.
A third of council seats are up for grabs, although an extra four seats are available in Adur because of retirements and resignations.
Adur District Council is a Conservative stronghold, with 22 Tory councillors, one Liberal Democrat and one Independent.
The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats are contesting all seats, Labour have fielded candidates in every ward and the Green Party has six representatives.
The UK Independence Party and Independents are also standing.
Elections are due to be held in all 14 wards and the parishes of Lancing and Sompting.

Buckingham ward - * Debbie Kennard, Conservative; Jan Kimber, Liberal Democrat; Julie Pearce, Labour; Vincent Tisley, Green Party.
Churchill ward - Pat Beresford, Conservative; Kim Bonnett, Liberal Democrat; Stephen Martin, Liberal Democrat; Ann Terry, Conservative; Michael Thornton, Labour. (Current councillors Carol Bradburn and Jaynie Sykes-Strudwick not standing for re-election).
Cokeham ward - Nilda Dooraree, Liberal Democrat; Barry Mear, Labour; Norman Wright, Conservative. (Current councillor Nicholas Piggott not standing for re-election).
Eastbrook ward - Sally Campbell, Labour; Emma Evans, Conservative; Jenny Greig, UK Independence Party; John Hilditch, Liberal Democrat. (Current councillor Carol Eade not standing for re-election).
Hillside ward - * Angus Dunn, Conservative; Rupert Greig, UK Independence Party; Barry Thompson, Labour; Carolyn White, Liberal Democrat.
