SOME Worthing children on a week-long school trip to the Isle of Wight have been taken ill with a stomach bug.
The party, from Vale School, Findon Valley, Worthing, numbered around 80 and on Tuesday (April 22), 14 children were taken ill.

A further five children fell ill on Wednesday (April 23), according to one parent who contacted the Herald.

It is understood that five children returned back to Worthing on Wednesday (April 23), together with one member of staff, and were re-united with their parents, who have said they're very happy with the way the school has handled the situation.

The group were staying at the Kingswood Centre in Bembridge on the island.

Sue Smith, assistant head teacher at The Vale, said she believed the bug had originated within the school party, rather than being contracted on the island.

This report follows on from a similar sickness outbreak after holiday-makers travelling to the Carlton Hotel in Sandown on the same Torquay Tours holiday, which included people from Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham and Littlehampton, fell sick and were confined to their hotel

Are you a concerned parent? Was your child affected?

Were you on the tour to Sandown?
