Former Brighton favourites in running for Eastbourne job

Two former Albion marksmen are in the running to be named manager of ambitious Conference South outfit Eastbourne Borough.

The Priory Lane club parted company with previous boss Garry Wilson last week and both Gary Hart and Nicky Forster are among the favourites to replace him.

Wilson had spent 13 successful years at the helm before recent poor form forced Borough chairman Len Smith’s hand and the race is now on to find a replacement.

Hart is already at home in Eastbourne having signed for Borough as a player in the summer after being let go by Brighton and is believed to be keen on a shift into management.

Forster on the other hand already has a managers job at non league Dover but, with the club rumoured to be running into financial problems, the 38-year-old who scored 40 goals in 98 games for the Seagulls could favour a move closer to his Sussex home.

Smith wants Borough to go full time within five years and recently unveiled plans to expand the club’s stadium to help match his on-the-pitch ambitions of a return to the top tier of non league football.

Among others also linked to the vacant hotseat include Steve King - currently on gardening leave from Sussex rivals Lewes, one time Brighton fans’ favourite Ian Chapman and Bognor boss Jamie Howell.
